All volunteers should dress for hot weather. We are hat and bring sunscreen. Bring water or a snack to stay cool! Thank YOU!

Transition Marshals
If you are one of our transition marshals see the Transition Chair and he or she will position near the entrance(s) to transition. It will be your responsibility to make sure all athletes entering transition have been body marked (if they are not marked they can still enter but remind them they cannot start the race unless they are marked and may be pulled out at swim start so get marked. Check their race number or verify they are an athlete as NO ONE other than athletes are allowed in transition. If they have not picked up their number yet send them back to the registration table. Transition closes and must be cleared at 7:30 a.m. (race start). Transition area re-opens when about 90% of the athletes have finished the race (around 9:45 a.m.) If we let them get their equipment and leave too early they will interfere with athletes still on the course

Time Chip Assistants
These people will help distribute timing chips to the athletes at transition area. Alta Vista Sports controls this but needs your help. Once the race starts then you will go to the food area under the big tent to help with food prep. After the food is prepared head to the finish line and help remove and store chips.

Body Marking
Body Markers need to be near the registration tables on Honeymoon Island at 6 a.m. where you will find all the magic markers. A line will quickly form toward transition if you stay too close together. You have to be careful not to interfere causing a back up near registration or a back up getting into transition. Spread out north to keep the athletes flowing toward the transition area without a big hold up. We expect a greater number of athletes than ever and they all arrive about the same time so we need to keep them moving. Mark the biceps of both arms and the front of both thighs with their race number. Have them SHOW you their number. Mark their age on their back left calf. Most are registered in the age group division so you will only need their age. Some will be registered in a elite, Clydesdale, Athena or relay. If they are registered in a division other than age group put a letter next to their age on their calf corresponding to their division A – for Athena, R for relay, E for elite, C for Clydesdale.

LATER: At 7:25 a.m. leave the markers just outside of transition for anyone that might need them and head to the city tent where you will prepare and distribute fruit/food to the athletes who have finished. If someone wants something before the race give it to them discreetly without opening it up to breakfast Once all the food is ready have any extra people not truly needed there to head tot he bike course by transition to help with dismount or direct athletes on their first lap to keep left and second lap to keep right.
