I must tell you, I have done over 100 triathlons in over 25 different venues and the Dunedin triathlon is the most organized and family friendly event I have ever done. Job well done. Congratulations, Tony Walton

2004 Dunedin Triathlon

Swim 1/4 mile | Bike 12 miles | Run 3.1

The Dunedin Triathlon on Honeymoon Island is an annual swim, bike, run event held June 8th. It is held at the Honeymoon State Park. The event is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Dunedin which provides local students with college scholarships, support for local civic projects, and funds many other worthy programs. The triathlon was pioneered in 2004 and has been recognized as a great race through one of the most beautiful areas on the West coast of Florida.

The 5th annual Dunedin Triathlon at Honeymoon Island will take place on Sunday, June 8th, 2008 at the same beautiful location of bath house #1 in the Honeymoon Island State Park, Dunedin, Florida. (www.floridastateparks.org/honeymoonisland) It is located West of Dunedin by taking Alt. 19 to Curlew Road, go West across Dunedin Causeway to the park entrance. Follow the signs to the parking and race start/transition areas. There is no fees collected at the park toll booth. Plan to arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 AM. The race will start with the first swim wave at precisely 7:30 AM. We will have several hundred athletes arriving at the same time, so plan ahead, be patient and everyone will have plenty of time to prepare for their race. This is a chip timed event where each athlete will receive and wear a chip around their ankle for the race. The chips will be collected  at the finish line to tally each racers split and total times.

We want you to know how important it is, from a race organization standpoint, that packet pick up the day before the race is MANDATORY. However, every year we have 100 or so emails and phone calls from those who either can’t or don’t want to travel to Dunedin twice. You can imagine how late the race would run if hundreds of athletes (many first timers) waited until race morning to get their packets. Therefore, those that do come to packet pick up on Saturday will have first priority for the expo give-a-ways and selection of  T-shirts. If you wait until race morning you are promised a shirt, but it may not be the standard race shirt. You will also get your race number and pertinent race info. All remaining expo give-a-ways will be given out on race morning. In the event we run out of T-shirts (this has NEVER happened), we will do a re-order and make them available to you at a Dunedin location for pick up after race weekend. It’s impossible to accommodate every exception, but we will do our best for our athletes. The best races are the ones with the greatest organization and on a June morning it is critical we start the race on time at 7:30 AM sharp.  Please register with this information in mind. It will  be WORTH EVERY penny of your registration fee. This is a Rotary fundraising event with all proceeds benefiting the community through the Rotary Club of Dunedin’s projects. This is a major undertaking every year and many volunteer time because we love our community and love to present a first class event for you....our athletes. We look forward to seeing you the first Sunday in June.

Packet pick up times and location will be posted on this site two weeks prior to race day

REGISTRATION FEES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  • Individuals $50 Through February 28th
  • Individuals $55 Through May 15th
  • Individuals $60 Through June 8th

Relay Teams are welcome but each member pays the individual fee and if you have a 3rd team member their fee is waived.

* * * Please note that Online Registration ends at 5pm EST on Thursday June 5th. * * *

I want to tell you how important it is from a race organization standpoint to tell you that packet pick up at the day before the race is MANDATORY. However, every year we get the same 100 or so emails and phone calls from those who either can't or don't want to travel to Dunedin twice. You can imagine how late the race would run if hundreds of athletes (many first timers) waited until race morning to get their info. You will also get your number and pertinent race info, however, all expo freebie give aways will not be given out on race morning. In the event we run out of t-shirts (this has NEVER happened) we will do a re-order and make them available to you at a Dunedin location for pick up after race weekend. It's hard to please everyone but the best races are the ones with the greatest organization and in a June morning it's critical we start the race on time at 7:30 a.m.  Please register with this information in mind. It will still be WORTH EVERY penny of your registration fee as this is a fundraising event with all proceeds benefiting community through great Dunedin Rotary Club projects. This is a major undertaking every year and so many donate their time because we love our community.

Packet pick up times and location will be posted on this site two weeks prior to race day.
